In mid-May, we organised at the School of Applied Arts in Ružomberok a meeting for wood-lathers, also known as wood-turners. This event held for the professional public, as well as for enthusiasts of this craft, took place over a whole weekend. The main part of the programme consisted of lectures, presentations and demonstrations by well-known artists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany, as well as other experts in this area. In addition to those giving lectures or demonstrations of crafts, two companies which sell tools, instruments and machines needed for wood-turning also presented their products. Thematic wood-turning meetings or symposia are also popular abroad; this was probably their premiere in Slovakia.
